UW Must Comply With Landmarks Ordinance

On July 20, the State Supreme Court issued an opinion in declaring that the University of Washington is subject to the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance. This is a huge victory for preservation advocates and the City of Seattle. Although the Nuclear Reactor Building was demolished, it left a legacy that is now tied to precedent-setting case law.

Modern Landmarks Nominations

Pacific Architect & Builder | Shannon & Wilson Buildings

The Pacific Architect and Builder building (1945 Yale Pl E) in the Eastlake neighborhood was designated a Seattle Landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Board on July 19. The Board also nominated the Shannon and Wilson building (3670 Woodland Park Ave N). Docomomo WEWA submitted both nominations.
